bloody nose

Does anyone get nose bleeds>  My daughter has been getting them daily.  She is a year and a half out of her surgery.

The nose bleeds could result from a dry tissue problem in the AN side.  I'd check with the doctor soon.  Nose bleeds can develop into annoying ulcers.

I'd check with the doctor like Boppie suggested.  Your daughter may have a problem unrelated to the AN surgery.

I usually only get nosebleeds when my allergies are really acting up (like this week..).  I've found a humidifier in my bedroom helps and also some saline nasal spray to keep things from drying out too much.

If your daughter's nosebleeds are happening every day and are really heavy, you should have it checked out because it could be a symptom of something else or a reaction to some sort of medicine.  Mine bleeds if I take aspirin, so I just avoid that.  I've never heard of any AN related nosebleeds, so it's probably not AN related, but I think I would have it checked out just to be sure and to ease your mind.

It probably is allergies.  But every time something happens I think it is because of the AN.  I'm being a mom and I worry about her.

I did get nosebleeds after surgery (did no one else?? ???), but not until after I went back to work - 3 months - I got them fairly frequently but they gradually went away - they said it was just from digging around in my head.  I NEVER had them before and don't have them now...

K -

I just wanted to clarify that Lori and I are the only normal forumites here LOL

I know sometimes we cause a little trouble (okay, Lori sometimes causes a lot) but we are normal  ;)

On a serious note, can't nosebleeds also be a sign of high blood pressure?  IMO I'd seek medical advice; it might be something totally unrelated to the AN surgery.

K,
I had nosebleeds for about 6 weeks after AN surgery.  I'm not sure why.  I have seasonal alergies, so it may have been the a reaction to the dry air and gases used during surgery.

On this forum, no woman ever has to apologize for being a caring mom.

I never had post-op nosebleeds but if I did, I would certainly want to know why.  It could be AN- related or, more likely, due to allergies.  Still, your daughter should be examined by a doctor for this problem.  I would not hesitate to make an appointment and, hopefully, find the cause and correct it.  I hope that is what happens.  Please keep us informed - and keep being a caring mother.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

nice to see my mom posting stuff.....mom quit worrying.  I have seen 2 differnt doctors and all said not sure why but don't worry.  I actually had a rip in my earlobe and they gave me this ointment to use...i have been sticking it up my nose and works like a charm....humidifiers, allergy medicine and nasal spray didn't do much, along with vasaline and neosporin (tried EVERYTHING)

very odd so who knows...i actually have really low blood pressure.....so everyone make my mom quit worrying about me :)

Meagan -

Ok, I'll try - here goes.... "Meaghan's Mom - please stop worrying about her!!".  I have a funny feeling that it's going to take more than that to make her stop worrying though.   ;)

Glad you're doing well, but you do realize, now we'll ALL be worrying about you!  It'll be like having 3000 moms!!   ;D

Meagan -

glad to hear you have the bloody nose problem under control.

I don't know how old you are - and you don't have to tell me - but I am 46 1/2 and my mother still worries about me.  She also tells me how to raise my children, which can be helpful or very annoying at times.  But being a mom myself, I can tell you right now, I'm confident I'll be doing the same for them when they grow up.   You never get too old to stop being your parents' child.
