A plastic mold to fill the translab?

I read about  titianium mesh being the new standard for translab but my doc feels that it is in my best interest to hold a hard plastic mold covering the translab.  Any opinions and feedback would be appreciated?

I just had translab a little over a week ago and have the titanium mesh.  I never herard of the plastic mold to cover the hole (for lack of a better word) but that sounds good too.  I think the idea of either is initially to keep constant pressure on the wound to help prevent CSF leaks, but also to protect the surgical area afterward.  The idea of a platic mold vs. titanium sounds intriguing.  I'm going to mention it to my doc and see what he says.

plastic mold?  Are you talking about bone cement to cover the hole?

My docs put the piece of bone back in and bolted it in with titanium plates (probably not the medical descirption, but you get the idea..."

the reason for titanium is the body does not reject it .. it bonds well to bone or muscle ... I would question if plastic would bond as well ...
