Heh...heh.... there are only 4 of them - and we know one of them has questionable balance....I think we can safely crash the moderator only party!  :D

Anyone with 2 good ears planning on attending?  We'll need someone to  be able to tell what direction we need to go to find those sneaky mods!

Lori
Right 3cm AN diagnosed 1/2007.  Translab resection 2/20/07 by Dr. David Kaylie and Dr. Karl Hampf at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.  R side deafness, facial nerve paralysis.  Tarsorraphy and tear duct cauterization 5/2007.  BAHA implant 11/8/07. 7-12 nerve jump 9/26/08.

I will probably come on the 15th and 16th.  Not sure whether Brian will be with me yet, but I'm still planning on being there.  With my hat.

YEA, MARCI!!!

We're all looking forward to meeting you  ;D

Chicago in August might be a little hot for the hat though.  But don't worry, Steve can just buy you lots of cold drinks  ;)

We don't have to wear the hats the whole time, but it would be fun to do a group hat photo. Preferably in the snootiest part of the Drake hotel, but more likely outside with the doormen.  :D

Steve
8 mm left AN June 2007,  CK at Stanford Sept 2007.
Hearing lasted a while, but left side is deaf now.
Right side is weak too. Life is quiet.

Just to let everyone know, the chances of me attending the ANA Convention are slim.    Boohoo for me  :'(  I've got money flying out the wahzoo with home renos and three sons attending college and university.  So grateful my baby is going back to high school for a third semester of grade 12, so the bank account can fill up a bit.  I also have a lovely holiday with my husband starting this Wed.

I am going to miss Chicago, but I will feel very connected to all of you because Wed of this past week I received a beautiful hand knitted purple hat from Steve.  I haven't taken any pictures yet because my 2nd son lost the charger for the camera.  He probably left it at a friends house, but you know its my fault because I'm always cleaning up and putting things away!  Being a Mother is difficult sometimes  :P  I have to buy one tomorrow!  I need it for my holidays.  I will try to post a few pictures after I return home.   If I win the lottery anytime soon my plans will change  ;)

Congratulations on the purple hat, Anne Marie; I can't wait to see it  ;D  I for one am praying you win that lottery  ;)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Kay - what would the JKL trio be with one member absent?

Karen - I don't think I know you, but I'm certainly looking forward to meeting you.  If you know Kay and Lori, you've got to meet me  ;)  :D

Great idea about a group hat picture.  There are lots of fun spots in Chicago where we could take it - maybe in front of Buckingham Fountain or The Bean in Millenium Park.

Speaking of Chicago and the symposium, I notice that we haven't heard from Kate B lately.  I hope she'll be joining us - it wouldn't be the same without her.

I live in Chicago & hope to make it! I will probably be having surgery in early summer so hope to be (somewhat) rarin' to go by then (and where better to make my post-surgical social debut than an AN convention!).

Facial nerve hemangioma. Probable dx 7/2008 confirmed 4/2009. Combo middle fossa and translab to remove the blood vessel malformation and snip ruined hearing and balance nerves by Drs. House and Brackmann @ House 6/2009. Doing great!

Lilan -

hope you make it to the symposium, too.  Both my docs - Battista & Kazan - are speaking, as is Dr. Wiet (who I think you've already met) and his son, Mark.

Bound to be a very informative, as well as a very festive, occasion.

Any interest in seeing a demonstration of standup paddling at sometime during the symposium? I unfortunately won't be able to make it. My Cape Cod Bay Challenge 2009 is August 15th. I have a friend that lives in Chicago though and he does standup all the time on the lake. The 1st three photos in this newspaper article are all of him.

He says he would be happy to give a demonstration. Not sure how it would fit into the busy schedule out there though. Let me know if there is interest. He's a very funny and friendly guy. i'm sure he would make it interesting. If there is enough interest and it fits the schedule we can setup a time and place that works.

Cool, but is he single?  :D  ;D

I think a demonstration would be great, but I'm not sure where in the schedule we could fit it in.

In addition to all the events, I'm also volunteering my time, so I don't have a good picture yet of when my free time might be.

But if you can arrange something, count me in.
