Back from the beach...
« on: March 29, 2009, 06:44:44 am »

This is a picture of my friends Mary Kay and Andrea, and me in the middle, in Sanibel, Florida last week, for my first real vacation since surgery.  For those of you contemplating life after surgery/treatment, here it is!

(Steve, thanks for the directions...)

I'm SO jealous! In the 30's her overnight! I know you enjoyed playing and am so glad to see that there IS life after AN. Thank you for posting this as it really gives me hope while I wait just for a diagnosis. Because of these kind of posts, my worries seem to lessen.

Hi Marci!

Now if that's not a picture of what postie-land should look like, what is?  Sanibel is one of the better places to vacation in Florida for beaches and sun.  It sure was a warm week!  I hope you enjoyed every minute of it!

Hi Marci,

Glad you had a god vacation -- love the pic.  My brother got married on Sanibel Island at Casa y Bell a few years ago and we all stayed there for the week.  It was gorgeous!  I would love to go back there some day.

Welcome back, Marci!  I hope you stored up the sensations of sun, sand, and surf so that as you return to chilly Ohio, you can bask in the memories!  Hope you were able to relax and unwind.  You deserve it!

For those of you contemplating life after surgery/treatment

Hopefully that includes everybody!  :D

The beach looks great, what a nice blue sky. I think a recovery trip to Sanibel should be included with every treatment package.

It looks warm and sunny and summery. You are still getting a hat, though. :)

I'm on the hat list?  Yay!!!!!

Interestingly, I had very little pain while I was away, but it hasn't quit since I've been back.  I think I need to retire early and move to a warm, beachy place.

Sound so good to me Marci.  I'm worried about the headaches and facial pain when my husband and I go away mid April.  How was the flying.....ear pressure?  I'm a terrible flyer.  I'm white knuckled all the way and its the only time I get my Rosary out.  I need all the help I can get!

WOW that looks like a lot of fun (said wistfully as I stare out the window at the freaking BLIZZARD going on right now)! Steve, where do we sign up for the "postie vacation package?"

Hope you enjoyed every second of it, you've more than earned that vacation.

And hopefully the pain will mellow for you at home too.

Dear Gidget,

I think everyone should do that! But no! Then there won't be room for US!!

Glad you had a good time and I hope the Pain Monster decides to quit harrassing you.

Flying was no problem, but I've flown several times now and it's been fine.  Besides, it's worth the white knuckles to get away!

Marci ~

Thanks for the photo.  Florida is great this time of year and I'm glad to learn that you enjoyed a fun vacation 'on the beach'.  Great post-op therapy!  :D

Marci -- I love Sanibel.  In all honesty -- coming from someone who has lived in both Florida and California -- California doesn't hold a candle to Florida.  Trust me.  I'd give up Los Angeles any day for Miami.  And I even lived through Hurricane Andrew.

Glad you could get away, Marci.
