Thanks Laz I will definately where the vest while on deck.  Just do not forget to unstick me!  Everyone beware I am taking the helm for the first time.  I second Sue's mission statement.   16
I believe you are given choices in life and it is not what has happened to you that defines who you are.  It is how you handle the situation and finding the positive in an almost hopeless situation that counts the most.  My son is my hero and I have had the pleasure of learning this from him.

Well I was thinking the Jimmy Buffett song "Take it Back" would be a good anthem... very piratey - even if it wasn't one that you know by heart...  But for some reason, "Fruitcakes" seems to be appropriate for this crew...

Here I go singing again and my son has asked me to please stop.  He says that it is hurting his ears.  ???  Marg I like the way you think.  :D 16

Fruitcakes!
Oh Yeah!
One of my favorite Buffett Songs and very appropriate for this here crew!
Here are the lyrics fer those o' you what don't know 'em. Sing along if ye like!

You know I was talking to my friend Desdemona the other day,
She runs the space station and bait shop down near Boomtown.
She told me that human beings were flawed individuals, that the cosmic
bakers took us out of the oven a little too early, and I believe it.

Take for example when you go to the movies these days.
They try to sell you this jumbo drink 8 extra ounces of watered down
Cherry Coke for an extra 25 cents, I don't want it, I don't want that much
organization in my life.
I don't want other people thinking for me.
I want my Junior Mints! Where did Junior Mints go in the movi?
I don't want a 12lb. Nestles Crunch for 25 dollars.
I want Junior Mints!
We need more fruitcakes in this world.
Less bakers!
We need people that care!
I'm mad as hell and I don't want to take it anymore!!

Chorus:
Fruitcakes in the kitchen
Fruitcakes on the street
Struttin' naked through the crosswalk
In the middle of the week

Halfbaked cookies in the oven
Half baked people on the bus
There's a little bit of fruitcake left in everyone of us.

Paradise--Lost and Found
Paradise--Take a look around

I was out in California
Where I hear they have it all
They got riots, fires and mud slides
They got sushi in the mall
Water bars, Brontosaurs
Chinese mondern lust
Shake and bake life with the quake
The secret's in the crust.

Chorus

Speaking of fruitcakes--How 'bout the government,
your tax dollars at work.

We lost our Martian rocket ship
The high paid spokeman said
Looks like that silly rocket ship
Has lost its cone-shaped head

We spend ninety jillion dollars
Trying to get a look at Mars
I hear universal laughter
Ringin out among the stars

Fruitcakes in the galaxy
Fruitcakes on the earth
Struttin' naked towards eternity
We've been that way since birth

Half baked cookies in the oven
Half baked people on the bus
There's a little bit of fruitcake left in everyone of us.

Religion, religion. OH there's a thin line between Saturday night and
Sunday morning.
Here we go now.
All right altar boys.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa

Where's the church, who took the steeple
Religion's in the hands of some crazy ass people
Television preachers with bad hair and dimples
The God's honest truth is it's not that simple

It's the Buddhist in you, It's the Pagan in me
It's the Muslim in him, she's Catholic ain't she?
It's the born again look, it's the WASP and the Jew
Tell me what's goin on I ain't got a clue.

Here come the big ones--Realationships--We all got 'em, we all want 'em.
What do we do with 'em?

Here we go I'll tell ya
She said you've got to do your fair share
Now cough up half the rent
I treat my body like a temple
You treat yours like a tent.

But the right word at the right time
May get me a little hug
That's the difference between lighting
And a harmless lightning bug.

Chorus

The future--Captain's log--Star date 2000 and sometin'

We're seven years from the millenium
That's a science fiction fact
Stanley Kubrick and his buddy Hal
Now don't look that abstract

So I'll put on my Bob Marley tape
And practice what I preache
Get Jah lost in the reggae mon
As I walk along the beach

Stay in touch with my insanity
Really is the only way
It's a jungle out there kiddies
Have a very fruitful day

Chorus

That's right. You too. Those crumbs are spread all around this
universe. I've seen fruitcakes. I saw this guy in Santa Monica roller
skate naked thru the crosswalk. Down in New Orleans, in the French market
there are fruitcakes like you cannot believe. New York, forget it,
fruitcake city. Down island we got fruitcakes. Spread them crumbs
around. That's right. We want 'em around. Keep bakin' baby, keep
bakin'!

--Jimmy

But I'm thinking we needs something wiv a lil more sailing in it-- how about "One Particular Harbor?"

I really do like "Party at the End of the World."

Awesome Mission Statement, Sue!

While we're singing here... I thought I'd put the other anthem I suggested.  Very piratey - but not many people have ever heard it...

(Jimmy Buffett, Matt Benton)

Open season on the open seas and
Captain says no prisoners please
Skull and crossbones on a background of black
We ain't stealin' we're just takin' back

We ain't stealin' we're just takin' back
Very simple plan of attack
It's our job and a labor of love
Take it home to the up above
We ain't stealin' we're just takin' back
Very simple statement of fact
Call it pillage or call it plunder
We're takin' it back from them boys down under

Hit us hard, took our treasure
That was the worst thing they could do
It will be our great pleasure
To take it back from that captain kangaroo

Yo ho ho, and a bottle of suds
It's a pirates fight we choose
No we don't want a bucket of blood
Just a cup is all we could use
Just a cup

The sails are up and the bets are down
Let's lighten up this harbor town
By hook or crook or new design
We're streakin' for that finish line

We ain't stealin' we're just takin' back
Very simple plan of attack
It's our job and a labor of love
Take it home to the up above
We ain't stealin' we're just takin' back
Very simple statement of fact
Call it pillage or call it plunder
We're takin' it back from them boys down under

We ask ourselves when we get in a fix
What would popeye do in a tight spot like this
He'd race for his true love and easily win it
In an old spinach can with a mast stuck in it

Lift us up, take us high
Time to let our spirits fly
Lift us up, take us high
Let us sail until we die

Lift us up, take us high
Let us float above the foam
Let our sails fill the sky
We are takin' our sweet treasure home

Take it back
We're takin' it back
Take it back!

To boldly go where no fruitcake has gone before

It's got a certain ring to it. I reckon that should be our mission statement!

Okay ya scoundrels, swab the decks, raise the anchor, lower the sails (got to learn some rust bucket lingo)

Captain Deb rises from her quarters, hair ruffled, shirt half out of her sleek bloomers, flaps her braces (ouch) and just as she is ready to instruct the crew, with an almighty thump, mozin' ol mary, totin her cap gun, challenges the Captain to get the crew working harder.

"Your cap gun is no match for my feather duster" says the captain. they each stare at each other

Stay tuned when we find discover whether it be the Carribean for Mozin' ol' Mary or Boot Hill for Captain Parrot? Or will there be another twist.

Live long and eat lotsa chocolate!
