Congrats, Mike!  I remember that first hair wash.  So sweet.  This process really makes you appreciate the little things, doesn't it?!  Use that ointment!!!!!

Congratulations on the bandage removal, Mike.

Did you use the cup from your BAHA recovery kit for your shampoo?

Once you are able to get the site wet, the Dawn detergent works wonders on cutting through the bacitracin goop  ;D

OMG!  Do you mean to tell me Lori forgot the cup?

Must have been too busy shopping for the chocolate  ;)

Sorry about that.

Lori couldn't fit a cup in the gift bag!  Sorry.  I went out on a limb and assumed most people probably have a cup or two around the house!  And besides, I didn't need to keep my BAHA site dry so I didn't need a cup!

And besides, we all know the most important thing is the chocolate!   :D

Jan, you're not going to fire me, are you?  And if so, I want severance pay.

I'm glad you finally got your bandage off, Mike. No more funny looks from strangers!

I washed my hair the other day, it was so gross! As soon as the water hit my hair it turned brown! Then the shampoo turned brown! Yuk! It felt sooo much better though.

BTW, I spoke too soon about the pain. My scalp was really really sore today. My tinnitus was roaring today,as well. It usually is very mild so I was surprised at that.

Yes my surgery area is rawl  :'( when  I put my healing cap on and touch the skin wow :o  but snapping it on does not hurt. I still wonder if I should have a gaze pad under the healing cap with the ontiment. I saw one site that they do that. I look like they cut it in a circle to fit the healing cap size. Hey how did you wash your hair with your bandage still on?  :o

The first time I washed my hair I put on a shower cap, and pulled it around to just cover the patch. I secured it with hair clips. The second time my husband helped, and I did the cup thing. Both times, I was totally sideways, so I can't wait to do it upright. There is still about 20% of my scalp that I haven't been able to wash yet.
I will have the parch taken off on Wednesday. I think.

So is the surgery area more sore AFTER the bandage comes off? My scalp hurt so bad last night I had to take the Hydrocodone. I hadn't taken any since the day of my surgery.

And what about the fatigue? Is that normal?

I didn't have soreness or fatigue post BAHA surgery, but everyone is different.

I did have itching - like Mike - and lots of it  ::)

I had a square foam bandage between my skull and the cap.  I'm thinking you should at least have gauze or something, Mike.  But I'm sure your doctor has her reasons.  She's done this before, right ?  :D

Lori -

you're not fired.  Who do you think I am, Donald Trump?  :D

No raise for you this year, though  ;)

Sounds like we might need bigger gift bags, because we definitely don't want to skimp on the chocolate.

Lisa it hurt alittle more when the bandage came off but not that bad. I felt more wanting to protect it though because that sense of protection was gone. but that also went away.I went to work today and of corse had to change an a/c compressor right in the direct sun it melted the oniment alittle but not that bad got a couple of what happen to you  in the public buildings though, but when I told them it was for my single side deafness they thought that was neat.Plus one guy at work in another department is deaf on his left side wants to know about it so I am bring a Baha information package in for him tomm.  ;D Lisa good luck wed. on your bandage removeal . Lisa I hope you feel better sry your hurting some mine comes and goes. And Jan my itching stoped when the bandage came off.

Oh sure, make me jealous  ::)  It's been a little over a year since my BAHA surgery and I still remember the itching  :P

Drove me crazy!  Yes, yes, I know Lori, I was crazy before the itching  :D

Mike,

I'm glad to hear you finally got your bandage off.  I've been out of the loop for a while but it seems like you had your surgery a while ago.  I only had the bandage on for 24 hours and the healing cap for 10more days.  I guess every doc has thei way of doing things.  The first time you wash your hair is most definitely a memorable experience,  The wait after surgery to get to use your processor seems to take forever, but it's well worth it.

Best wishes,

Wendy

P.S.  Lori -  I have to agree that although I found the cup very handy, chocolate is more important!
