Surgery Scheduled for June 22nd
« on: May 19, 2009, 12:55:42 pm »
Just got a call from Dr. McKenna's office and it looks like my surgery will be on June 22nd - a monday.  Just enough time to finish up end of the school year stuff (though it will be done poorly as I feel so crummy most of the time).  I somehow feel better now that I have made the move and have an actual date.  Scared, but feel better.  Jim, how do I put this on the calendar?

Miss Molly
Diagnosed 3/09 1.1cm tumor - 4/17/09 - had grown to 1.2
Age 61 - married with three adult kids
MidFossa surgery completed June 22nd
Mass General/Mass Eye and Ear - Martuza and McKenna
The tumor has grown back.  Now working with Mass General.  Dr. Loeffler feels I am not a candidate for proton beam.

Hey Molly!

Congrats on the surgery date and hoping that nerves will calm down to prep you for your visit to MGH/MEEI.  I've put it on the AN Calendar for you (http://www.my.calendars.net/AN_Treatments) and sending those wellness wishes your way!

Hang in there until then..... wellness wishes, as always!

Molly .....

Just having a date should make you feel a little better or at least it did for me.  This way you have a specific timeframe instead of the uneasiness of an indefinite end to your feeling crummy.  ..... and it is good for you to have the school year to finish to keep your mind on something else at least part of the time.

Here's for well wishes for a swift passing of time between now and June 22nd, successful surgery, and uneventful recovery!  Thinking about you!!

Molly,
That's great!  Sorry you're feeling less than fantastic.  If you're up for it, do some special activities before your big day.  You can walk in there with confidence.  Your neurosurgeon is mine's boss, and we all know McKenna is wonderful.  Try to feel good about your decision and the access to a skilled team.  And, hint, hint, take muffins on the morning of the surgery, healthy ones to fortify them for the long procedure.  The first thing they said to me when I woke up was, "The muffins were great!"
Wishing you an easy, breezy outcome,
Nancy

Hey, Bob.  On your way in to surgery, run up to the 12th floor neuro unit and wake up Molly with a big hug.  She'll be ready to head home that afternoon I predict.

Yay!  I'll have a surgery buddy!!  Do come by and say hi, Bob.  If for anything, to keep my husband in line.  I haven't broken it to him yet that he is going to be responsible for updating my posts during/after surgery.  It was great to hear how Nancy was doing during those hours/days.

Molly and Bob,
Good thing you two can follow each other, and support each other post op.
That is great!
Congrats on the surgery date, Molly. It will be here before you know it.
Positive thoughts on getting this time to go quickly.
Pamper, pamper, pamper, if you can.
I loved going to movies, personally. It's great to "get away" mentally into the movie mode. :)

Elliemae?

Are you going to be at MGH at the same time I am?  Let me know.

Also, do I dare ask Steve for a hat?

I'll definitely swing by and say hello. From what I hear I'll be in a day before for tests so I'd guess you'll still be there then. I'm still hoping to have my date moved earlier but not holding my breath.
