Bob,
I am really happy for you.  Be careful in the water and try not to overdo it.  You've made it thru the rough patch.  There's no stopping you now.
Take care,
Theresa

4 miles today with a couple of friends. Felt great if a bit off. Only real issue was my eye. I thought the sunglasses I bought with the gasket would be enough to keep the wind off...not. Got dry and irritated. I forgot to bring the  clear eye patch Dr McKenna gave me. Should solve the problem...we'll see tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words all.

12 miles today with a few friends training for the CCBC. Eye patch works good. Makes things blurry when it fogs up but I manage. No falling anyway... ;D.  I was very tired the last couple of miles. With only 3 weeks of training left before the event I have my work cut out for me.

Everythings been going so smoothly that i guess I'm spoiled. Just waiting for my facial nerve to join with the program so the eye problems will stop...hopefully.

I did have a bit of a scare this morning....potential CSF leak in my ear. Had some fluid come out. Called the doc and the nurse had me tilt my head to the side and strain...no more fluid though. Doc says it may just be some of the fat put in after the surgery has liquified. It was only a few drops with a little blood mixed in. Not leaking anymore. Doc said if it comes back and is worse to call. Fingers crossed. Was surprised after 5 weeks to have something happen.

Jeez, that's a bit scary!  Glad you're ok though.  I wish the fat in the rest of my body would liquify and pour out!

;D  then get that pink sprinkly donut out of your face, silly

Bob,
Dr McK asked me to swab gently with alcohol after each shower.  I usually get a bit of yellow coloration on the swab when it is withdrawn.  I wonder if that is fat.   :o   ???

Watch and Wait since 9/19/01
Increased from 1.1 x 1.9 to 1.9 x 1.9 cm as of 10/27/08
Right SSD, tinnitus, compensating balance
Dr. McKenna at Mass Eye and Ear and Dr. Barker at MGH
Translab April 8, 9 hours, 18 mm Tumor all gone SSD some facial weakness

LOL...yeah me too JB...me too. I must admit though I'm feeling pretty good about the shape I'm in despite the weight gain of steroid induced indulgence....never thought I was going to stop eating! i've already burned off most of it with my training. Hope to be at 250 lbs for the event.

Nancy...I've been diligent with the alcohol at least once a day and always after showers. I was getting the yellow discoloration too but I thought the damn thing was pretty much all healed. Also seems to be a bit soft/spongy within the confines of the big incision. If I touch it I can feel the pressure transfer to the inner ear plug...feels weird. Going to keep close watch on it. Hate to have something happen now that would require more work and keep me off the water for the CCBC.
