That is awesome.  I have no patience for knitting.

A package arrived from Portland on Monday. When Steve first e-mailed me that my hat was ready, I offered to bake him a potato peel pie if he delivered it in person. Sadly, he had to decline my kind offer, so I decided the least I could do was bake a pie that he could enjoy from afar. I also decided that I would forgo the pleasure of seeing my hat until said pie had been baked, and today was my first opportunity. How's that for anticipation?

Thank you very much, Steve. It's a great hat!

Sara, you do look fabulous  ;D

Congratulations on the "Steve-original" - another wonderful job, Steve!

I, too, was going to ask how the pie tasted; guess I'll move on over to the Book Club thread and find out.

I clearly missed out on an interesting and apparently tasty pie. Maybe I should consider delivery in person after all. Nah. :)

I have to agree, pink suits you, Sara. I'm just glad the hat fits.

Wow Sara,

You look great in your new winter pink hat! I also noticed you really must love pink, as I believe there is a pink pot on the stove??? As usual, another fine masterpiece of Steve's! Oh and by the way, that pie does look scrumptous!!!

Not even if you can schedule a delivery to Anne-Marie on Thanksgiving?

Thank you. Fortunately knit hats are very forgiving, particularly the brimless variety. It's really a great choice for mass production.

Good eye, Jackie! I received a whole set of pink cookware for Mother's Day. I like most colors, orange being an exception, but pink is my favorite. I have a pink cell phone, pink digital camera, pink iPod, pink keyboard, mouse and speakers for my computer, and now a nifty new pink knit hat. My kids love Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October because it brings a cornucopia of gift ideas for Mom - I got a pink toothbrush in my Christmas stocking one year. Plus my grandmother died of breast cancer, my mother was treated for early breast cancer two years ago, and one of my aunts is battling a more advanced case. So those gifts are of special significance to us beyond the color.

The potato peel pie was much better than I anticipated. I posted the recipe in the ANA Book Club thread if anyone is interested, complete with photos and commentary. I was also thinking that adding a little bit of leftover pork (from the pig roast that inspired the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society) and a few vegetables would turn the recipe into a great shepherd's pie.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. It's cold enough to wear my hat!

Your new pink hat looks awesome and so do you, Sara!  Still not sure about the potato peel pie, though :P

Yes, October is breast cancer awareness month!  Go get those mammograms, ladies!

Hi Cindy,

How is the weather down there in Georgia? Getting chilly yet, by any chance?  ::)

You won't believe it, Steve!  Happened to have had a severe drop in temperature for a brief period this afternoon...thus, I was able to put on my gorgeous hat-by-Steve.  I had my son quickly snap a photo...will post it tonight (assuming I can remember how to do it) ;D
