My husband fell from a ladder while doing a capentry job for someone inside a shed and broke his hip yesterday.  He managed to drive home and then I took him to the hospital and then was sent on to Des Moines and had surgery of a rod and plates in.       I just made a quick trip home for shower and to get some items.      So I am down there for a couple days.    Haven't seen a computer to use.    He is doing as well as can be for the start of recovery and he knows too well how frustrating it is when will take some time.               Just had to pass this along to part of the family!                    Cheryl R

Oh Cheryl,

I am so sorry about your husbands fall! He must really be a strong man to have driven home in the pain he must have been in! I hope his recovery is swift! Interesting how we change positions of caregiver and receiver, isn't it? My hubby and I have done that also in the almost 45 years of marriage! I will pray for your hubby's quick recovery and your peace of mind! Blessings coming your way dear one.

Wow!  He drove home?  That reminds me of a friend whose husband drove himself to the hospital when he was having heart problems!  Glad he made it OK, and will keep him in my prayers for healing....and you for peace and strength  ;)

Cheryl ~

I'm so sorry to learn about your husband's fall and subsequent broken hip, which I'm quite sure was very painful.  Both you and your husband will be in my prayers as you work through this latest challenge.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Mark had his hip surgery Sat pm and we are now home this afternoon late!      He is doing very well and we both feel very fortunate.   It was 3 breaks and has a rod and plates.    No weight bearing for 6-8 weeks and is on crutches.    He is tired and pain with moving the leg to get up from sitting and in and out of bed but was even able to get his own leg in bed yesterday.    No talk of more therapy till see dr in 2 weeks.        He is an active person so this was be interesting to be home.     I think their is new appreciation of knowing what recovery is and will not be a speedy event.
I appreciate everyones thoughts and know just one more thing to make it thru.

Cheryl, when I told Elbee that Mark had broken his hip, she said that she wished she could be there to help push his wheelchair and find elevators for him. She still remembers his kindness to her in Chicago.
