Jersey Shore
« on: July 08, 2010, 04:19:25 pm »
It's official.  I'll be vacationing at the Jersey shore - approximately Spring Lake Heights (near South Belmar) - from roughly July 19 through July 23 with the weekends on either side spent in Summit - or nearby.

If anyone in the area would like to meet, spend a little beach time, enjoy a few drinks and a BBQ, please let me know.

Rumor has it that there might be an appearance or two by my very own partner-in-crime, Lori  ;D

Unfortunately Kaybo will be in Texas  :'(  but 2/3 of the JKL Trio should prove very interesting  :D

I am jealous too but glad y'all will get to hang out!

Phyl- so great to hear from you - I've been wondering about you - hope you are doing well.

No plans for any real vacation this summer. Still trying to realize that I'm in Houston now for good & not just visiting Grandma!!  I am going with the girlies & a lot of our family (Dave's) to church camp outside San Antonio - I guess I'll be a counselor & then we will stop for the weekend at the Hyatt Hill Country on the way back. Dave & I missed out on that last year since we were meeting all you guys in Chicago!  He will work while we are all at camp & then meet us for the weekend!  It's really nice there & should be extra great after a week at camp!

Have fun without me & try not to get into too much trouble - I can't come bail you out of jail!!

I think you guys - except for annamaria - are missing my point here  ::)

I'm not looking to make anyone jealous or to brag.  I'm looking to meet up with any of my fellow Forumites who might be in the area - or might want to travel to the area.

Annamaria -

I'll respond to your PM when I know a few more specifics.

Kaybo -

thanks for the offer of bail  :D

Phyl -

sunscreen is all taken care of.  My brother, who will be vacationing with us, works for Schering-Plough in Summit, NJ (or are they Merck, now??) makers of Coppertone.  He has a huge stock of sunscreen that he's just dying to bully me into wearing.  I'm horrible about applying it - even though I have the type of skin that burns to a crisp  :P  Thankfully my children got their father's complexion and have both been sporting beautiful tans since early June.

Jan,

As an actual resident (though not a native) of the Jersey Shore I would love to meet up with you while you're on vacation in my fair state! But I'm going to be visiting my mother in Nashville during the dates you'll be here, so will have to take a rain-check and hope to meet you on your next visit. Spring Lake is lovely and I know you'll have a great time. Be sure to eat lots of our good produce -- tomatoes and corn, among other wonderful fruits and vegetables, should bejust about perfect while you're here -- New Jersey is truly the "Garden State."

Hi Jan!

So glad you are taking a break and going on vacation!
You will have fun visiting with your family, too - nice!   :)

Having been raised just north of Philadelphia, I spent some time at the Jersey Shore - lots of great memories!

It rained in the Northern Shenandoah Valley last night and this morning - a welcome relief from the extended heat wave here on the East Coast.
But next week, it will hot again and sunny.

I hope you get to meet some Forumites - that will be fun!

Enjoy!

I've got my beach bag packed and I'm ready to go.  I might have to hit up your brother for some sunscreen - I spend a fortune on that stuff every year!

Since I keep my beach chairs and the sand toys and boogie boards in the car at all times, that's all ready to go too!  I hope some others will be able to join us too - I know it will be a fun time.

Jan, maybe Phyl can use the Mod jet to go pick up Kay.... ;)

Catherine, I always come home with a car full of tomatoes (best in the world) and corn!  My brother-in-law is a farmer - they grow herbs and specialty stuff, so I'll have plenty of that too.  The car smells pretty good by the time I get back to VA!  If anyone wants any of that kind of thing, let me know and I'll pick it up on my way to Jan's Beach Bash!

Jan ~

I'm not jealous because, although I've never been to the Jersey shore I don't have any plans to do so (lots of nice beaches near us) but I sure hope you, your kids and family have a great time there!  If you can meet up with a few of our members, all the better.  I hope the weather cooperates with you that week. The long-range forecast looks good (sunny & hot - beach weather!)  :)
