Clarice,

Best wishes for a successful surgery! You will be in wonderful hands at House -- they'll all take great care of you during your stay. Hope you'll have time to see some of the sights around L.A. -- my husband and I took in quite a few tourist-y things both before and after my surgery. It was fun, plus a wonderful way of keeping your mind focused on more enjoyable things than surgery.

GK on April 23rd 2008 for 2.9 cm AN at Toronto Western Hospital. Subsequent MRIs showed darkening initially, then growth. Retrosigmoid surgery on April 26th, 2011 with Drs. Akagami and Westerberg at Vancouver General Hospital. Graduallly lost hearing after GK and now SSD but no other issues.

Dear Clarice,

I will be sending wonderful vibes from the surgery through `the recovery.  

In 1989 I had surgery nearby there at UC Irvine.   I was all alone and took public buses down to Newport Beach and Balboa.  Balboa is my dream place to visit.   You walk out on the pier and there is a hamburger restaurant called Ruby's.   Take your order upstairs and eat your hamburger and milkshake facing west...all you  can see is the ocean and Catalina Island.  Ir's incredible.   They also make breakfast.    Then walk back a few blocks to town and take the ferry to Balboa Island where there's a village of cute little beach homes and very friendly people.

You are probably enjoying sunny CA by now. Hopefully you can enjoy the beach and burgers like Mei Mei suggested. That sounds like so much fun, and so simple! Ah those simple joys of life.

You will be in my prayers especially on Wednesday. I'll be flying to TX (again!) for my son's graduation from college in SAntonio, so will keep you in prayer as I'm flying the friendly skies. (Sorry, K, no trip to Houston this time  ;) )

You will do marvelously, I am confident.

We arrived safely in LA on Saturday. Seton Hall is perfect for our needs. Did a bit of sightseeing yesterday. Seeing relatives today. Pre-op stuff tomorrow. Surgery on Wednesday. Thanks so much for all of your well wishes and prayers.

OH NO!!!!! i thought i had just missed a couple of weeks on the forum. i come back and i see all this talk of clarice's surgery and couldn't find it anywhere. now that i've found out about the surgery, i am also realizing that i missed 3 months of your life, clarice! how did i do that? i don't know. i never saw this thread before.

so, i am glad you are settling in there and now that i know what's up with you i will be praying for you.
