live chat
« on: October 04, 2005, 07:50:50 pm »
I enjoy coming to this site and have met so many great people. :) One thing that I wish this site had was a live chat. Sometimes I don't have a specific question; I just feel like chatting with other AN patients and family members. When I had a different health issue some years ago I visited a live chat site all the time to talk about those issues. I just thought I would throw that out there and see what others think. Jennifer

The idea of a chat room has been suggested to this site before...but they do seem to be slow on suggestions.  I had also suggested for them to put a link on the home page for this forum (under treatment options), for those that are "watching and waiting" I received an email that they thought it was a good idea...but nothings happened.

Anyway...  if you go to this Yahoo group:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Acoustic_Neuroma_Awareness/

There is a chat option.  you'll probably have to coordinate a chat for the first few times before people do it on a regular basis.  Good bunch there, I've been a member for a while.  There are "surgery", "radiation", and "watch and wait" types there...

I think this is a great idea too...I live alone so there are many nights that I just plain feel lonely and would enjoy people to chat with.

I've been wondering why we don't have a live chat room?  All we need is either msn or aol instant message and creat our own chat room .  Both are free.

I know it was suggested to this site before, I think it is a great idea.  I have participated in other health sites that have live chat and loved it.

I've noticed it on frappr, but am the only one there whenever I go.  I think it would be a great idea to coordinate days/times to start.   I'm sure if someone got it going, and we talked about it on here, that would draw others as well.  Thanks again, Joe, for getting the frappr going!

Totally awesome idea!!! A group of us already do an email chat  sort of, but the idea of a specific time and the ability of others to jump right in is a GREAT idea.
