Gamma Knife and Other Stereotactic Radiotherapies for Acoustic Neuroma
Radiation therapy for acoustic neuroma has evolved over the past decade, not only as a primary treatment, but also as a secondary treatment for regrowth. This article, published on Medscape’s website on July 13th, reviews current technologies and how they can be used for AN, and reviews what they call the “controversies” surrounding the use of stereotactic radiation for AN.
Written as a resource for neurosurgeons and neurotologists, this article goes into very granular detail about radiation, anatomy and acoustic neuroma- much of which is difficult for the average civilian to digest. Still, if you or a loved one is considering radiation treatment for AN, it may be worth scanning for useful tidbits.
In no case does ANA endorse any commercial products, surgeon, medical procedure, medical institution or its staff.
