Everyone affected by acoustic neuroma (AN) has a story to tell. Sharing our experiences can be cathartic, and hearing others’ stories can bring us comfort and hope. Doctors provide us with statistics and facts. They test and treat. But connecting with others who have been there and understand helps us feel like we're not alone in a world where most people have never heard of an acoustic neuroma.
So share your story – you never know who you’ll help. Read others’ stories – you might get an answer to a question you didn’t know you had.
The ANA website offers many ways to share and connect: read and share on our Patient Stories page, send in a video to post with our other Video Stories, or read and submit a Milestone. Our quarterly newsletter features a patient story in the Voyages section of each issue and this year for #GivingTuesday our focus is a #SharingIsCaring campaign, centered around AN stories. Giving Tuesday is the global day of giving that kicks off the charitable season and we're asking ANAmbassadors to help us increase awareness through short stories, pictures or videos and sharing them within their social networks. We'll share them as well to offer support to the AN Community world wide.
Visit our Volunteer page for more information on all of these opportunities and other ways you can give back. If you'd like to become an ANAmbassador, contact Melissa Baumbick at development@ANAUSA.org.
