Most of those dealing with acoustic neuroma are also dealing with some level of hearing loss. There are staggering statistics associated with both hearing loss and hearing aids.
Did you know that 2/3 of the population over the age of 70 is hard of hearing? And were you aware that only 1/5 of those with hearing loss use any kind of hearing aid or device? Why is that? It seems that cost and perceived stigma are the two biggest roadblocks. Most insurance plans, including Medicare, don't cover them and some people are simply embarrassed to wear them.
