Personalized care for acoustic neuroma
At Ascension Alexian Brothers Brain & Spine Institute, our multidisciplinary skull base team provides specialized care for patients with acoustic neuroma.
Our neurotology and neurosurgery specialists work together to evaluate each patient and develop a personalized treatment plan. Depending on your individual needs, your care plan may include observation and surveillance, Gamma Knife® radiosurgery or surgery.
A multidisciplinary approach
Acoustic neuroma care often involves important decisions about whether and when treatment is needed. Our multidisciplinary skull base team brings together neurotology and neurosurgery expertise to review your condition and discuss the treatment options available to you.
Your care plan is personalized based on your individual diagnosis and needs, with specialists working together throughout the decision-making process.
Treatment options
Treatment for acoustic neuroma is not the same for every patient. Our specialists evaluate each patient individually and discuss the treatment options that may be appropriate.
Observation and surveillance
For some patients, observation and ongoing surveillance may be recommended. Your care team will discuss whether monitoring is an appropriate approach for your individual condition.
Gamma Knife® radiosurgery
Gamma Knife® radiosurgery is one of the treatment options available through Ascension Alexian Brothers Brain & Spine Institute.
Our specialists evaluate each patient to determine whether Gamma Knife radiosurgery may be an appropriate part of the treatment plan.
Surgery
When surgery is recommended, our neurotology and neurosurgery specialists work together to
determine an appropriate surgical approach.
Surgical approaches available through the program include:
- Middle fossa surgery
- Retrosigmoid surgery
Your care team will discuss the recommended approach with you and answer questions about your treatment plan.
Care centered on your individual needs
At Ascension Alexian Brothers Brain & Spine Institute, treatment planning starts with the individual patient.
Our multidisciplinary team offers different approaches to acoustic neuroma management, allowing specialists to develop a plan based on your specific needs rather than a single
treatment pathway.
Our acoustic neuroma program includes:
- Multidisciplinary skull base care
- Neurotology and neurosurgery
- Observation and surveillance
- Gamma Knife® radiosurgery
- Middle fossa surgery

- Personalized treatment planning
